Tuberose Bulbs for Sale from K. van Bourgondien

Tuberoses make the perfect addition to any summer garden. Supple petals form pretty, tubular blooms that grow upward along tall flower spikes. They come in both single and double forms. Though native to Mexico, tuberoses perform very well in sunny northern landscapes. Lovely spikes of soft flowers appear in early summer and retain their beauty and sweet perfume all season long.

Tuberose Growing Tips

Plant tuberose bulbs in the spring after the weather is relatively warm (60°F or more at night). Choose a moist, well-drained, humus-rich location in full sun. Plant the bulbs 1-2 inches deep, spacing them 6-8 inches apart. After foliage appears, apply our bulb food. Keep the soil lightly moist. In areas of winter frost, dig the bulbs in fall before the first frost and store them indoors over the winter. Tuberose flowers grow 24-48 inches tall (depending on the variety), bloom in summer, and are very fragrant.

Choosing the Right Tuberose Varieties

Tuberose flowers can grow in zones 3-10, although they will need to be lifted in the fall in zones 3-7. So keep this in mind when planting tuberose bulbs. Tuberose varieties vary in size, from petite to towering. Consider the available space in your garden or the desired height for your floral arrangements. Plant The Pearl in the back of a flower bed or compact varieties like Single Mexican for smaller gardens.

Tuberose Overview

Aromatics

The intensely rich, sweetly floral fragrance of tuberoses has long been used in perfumes to provide soft middle notes that linger. This seductive aroma has made tuberoses one of the most sought-after blooms for fragrant cutting gardens and as a border plant.

Soil Requirements

Tuberose flowers thrive in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in full sun.

Pest & Diseases

Tuberoses can be prone to pests like aphids and diseases such as powdery mildew. Regular inspection and early intervention with appropriate treatments like insecticidal soap or fungicides can help control these issues. Additionally, ensuring proper spacing and airflow minimizes the risk of fungal infections. With proactive measures, you can safeguard your tuberose plants and enjoy healthy blooms in your garden.
