Allium Purple Rain

Allium Purple Rain

Purple Rain is one of the best alliums for perennializing, even more so than the famed powerhouse perennializer, Purple Sensation. Beautiful, 4" dark purple, globe-shaped flowers look like exploding fireworks. This allium makes a big impact when planted in large groups among perennials—and it's perfect for filling the gap between spring flowering bulbs and perennials. An excellent naturalizer. The flower heads also make showy cut flowers and dried flowers in bouquets. Growing 34-38" tall, Purple Rain is drought tolerant, easy to grow, and deer resistant. It attracts butterflies and pollinators. For the best performance, plant the bulbs in well-drained soil in full sun. Not available in ID, WA. Bulb size: 10+ cm.
  • Hardiness Zones 3-9
  • Mature Height 34 - 38 inches
  • Bloom Time late spring to early summer (May - June)
  • Light Requirements Full Sun
