Autumn is an exciting season for flower farmers and home gardeners. Why? Because it's when we take our first step down the lane that leads to gorgeous flowers months later! Here at the farm, we're in the field pulling all the annuals. We will seed and plant cool spring flowers as the temperatures begin to drop.

Until then, there's plenty to do to keep us busy, including ordering bulbs to plant this fall so we have beautiful blooms in the spring. Tulip bulbs are probably the top choice among growers and gardeners alike, and there are so many tulip varieties: Darwin hybrids, Double flowering, Fosteriana, Fringed, Species tulips, Parrot and Triumph. Among my favorites here at the farm is Double Tulip Valdivia, a variety that stands on its own in the ground and stands out when tucked into floral arrangements. Another favorite is, a lush beauty that adds classy style and color to the garden and is especially attractive at the front of borders. Here at the farm, we grow them for fresh cuts, so we plant them directly into the field. And, of course, there are.
