Liven up shady spaces with this striking white-flamed hosta! Fire and Ice is widely considered the most beautiful of its type and we can certainly see why. Lightly rippled, mid to dark green leaves feature intriguing white, flame-shaped centers, giving darkened corners of the landscape a touch of brightness and beauty. In midsummer, gracefully arching, 20-24" scapes bear soft lavender, bell-shaped blooms, adding another layer of soft light to shadowed areas. We love this one planted in groups as a ground cover or in a container garden, but it also makes an exceptional border planting. Butterflies love the blooms of this easy-to-grow perennial.

Growing Tips

Planting Instructions:
Soak roots in cold to lukewarm water for about 30 minutes. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots without bending them. Firm soil around roots and water in well.
Soil Moisture:
Tolerant of a wide range of soils, but best in well drained.
Will Tolerate:
Acidic Soil, Clay Soil, Loamy Soil, Sandy Soil
Pruning Instructions:
Remove spent flower stems to tidy up the plants for the rest of the growing season.

Winter Care:
Mulch +/- 2" for the first winter. Remove promptly in early spring.
