Epimedium sulphureum

Epimedium sulphureum

Reminiscent of Columbine flowers, the tritone blooms of this charming shade lover add a touch of sunny color to container gardens, darkened borders or mixed beds that get only dappled sunlight. Each long lived yet slow growing plant features plentiful blooms with soft yellow sepals, bright yellow petals and deep yellow spurs—a coloration that is as cheerful as it is bright. The compact perennial plants reach a moderate 10-12" in height and are very tough indeed. Suggest epimedium, also known as Fairy Wings, as an uncommonly pretty flowering ground cover.
