Dragon Arum

I just took pictures of one of these that a friend transplanted 3 years ago in Bangor Michigan and it is beautiful but boy does it stink! It's a good 30 inches tall to the top of the pistil. Reminds me of a unicorn horn.

Dragon Arum

The arum will produce orange berries in the fall. The leaves will remain green until then. Plant will go dormant over the winter. I usually mulch lightly over the winter for added protection. Be careful the seeds are toxic!

Dragon Arum

Just spectacular! I was not familiar with this plant at all. I grew one in the house in front of a french door so it had lots of indirect light. My husband began to complain about an odor in one area of the room, "smells like something is dead" It really did smell "DEAD". Three days we had that odor in that room and then suddenly the stink was good? I was not aware the smell was coming from that plant or I would have moved it to the deck. That is the only negative about this exotic plant, easy remedy, putit outside till the odor is gone (a couple of days). The flower is specatular! I have one growing outside also, they must grow easily because I can't really remember planting it outside at all. Now I want to know does it have a bulb, seeds, How do I care for this plant after the flower is spent? I love this beautiful plant and all of my neighboors think I must know all about exotic plants, a little secret.
