Cortaderia selloana

(Pampas Grass) Plant in fertile, very well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Space 36" apart. Some flower plumes will appear the first summer, the second year is spectacular. Water only in spring when plant begins to grow. Keep soil dry the rest of the growing season. In late winter, cut the plant to the ground. Be careful, leaf edges are very sharp. In zone 7, tie clump up in fall and mulch well. Grows 8-12' tall. Blooms late summer to fall. Hardy in zones 7a
