Hi! My name is Merrin Tubbs and I wanted to enter the garden contest. Although I am a novice gardener, I come from a long line of gardeners. When we moved our small family into an established home, which had been uninhabited for a few years, it was overwhelming the amount of work needed to be done in order to clean up, tear out and revamp the yard. With a lot of work and help from family (I was pregnant at the time), four beds were added and planted, curbing was put in, and sod layed. A variety of bulbs and perennials were added. I was looking for easy to care for plants since I am a beginner and have limited time with my small family. I had much to learn in the beginning, as I couldn't even tell the difference between a weed and a seedling coming up. I was also looking for a variety of texture, color schemes, and seasonal blooms. I was so excited the next spring when I saw that all of our hard work and effort paid off with beautiful blooms and plants. Through trial and error I have learned much. I have a newfound appreciation of gardening- the joy that comes from seeing a small plant or bulb grow and develop into something beautiful is truly miraculous. I look forward to learning much more and enjoying many more years of gardening. Here are a few pictures of my yard and some of my favorite plants.
