When my family and I first moved into this Victorian house in June 1996, it was completely devoid of any aesthetic beauty. A once prominent home of a doctor's house had fallen into disarray over the past 40 years. Little by little, over the past 10 years, I have added flowers to my garden and added to the beauty of this corner house.
The tulips mark the arrival of spring and the beginning of planning for the summer growing season to come... |
The beauty of cone flowers brightens up the white siding from June through October, assuming that frost does not get them. |
The Angel Trumpet bush continually receives praise from people as they sit at the stoplight. |
The black eyed-Susans and wax plants complement each other very well. The callalillies grow to almost 7 feet tall during the hot summer months. My secret is that the sun heats up the brick and insulates the bulbs. |
One of my favorite flowers are hydrangea. |
The Flowering Cherry Tree produces the bunches of flower with the sweetest fragrance in spring. |
The hibiscus flower is a rare treat. I had trouble this summer with the Japanese beetles as it appears to have been their favorite meal. |
