Please accept the attached photos and this email for consideration for your garden contest. My garden is designed to be a cutting flower garden, comprised almost entirely of perennials. My husband came up with the design layout (the grass pattern was made with the lawn tractor) and I have done all the plant choices and placement. We replaced what was an entirely grass island in our driveway starting in 2005, so the garden is two years old. We put in everything as shown, the arbor, trees, flagstones and fountain. I have most of the individual plants marked with plant markers. The garden measures 30 ft wide by 90 ft long, so about 2700 sq ft. Plants are too many to name but include a foundation of tulips, daffodils, and alliums for spring. Delphiniums, many varieties of Campanula, peonies, penstemons, coral bells, veronicas, salvias, daisies, mallow, hollyhocks, and phlox for summer. Rudbeckias, lobelias, and asters for late summer. My garden has opened a doorway to meeting my neighbors. We are out in farm country where the houses are far apart. But while I was putting in the garden, and ever since, my neighbors stop as they drive by to visit and talk about the flowers. And I get a lot of visitors from folks just driving by. I even got one couple on vacation from California who stopped to take photographs of the garden and a tour!
