Where Do Perennial Phlox Grow?

Perennial phlox are fairly versatile in their growing zones. They primarily enjoy any of the zones from 3 to 9—which includes Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Northwestern California for the Northwest gardening region. These zones are particularly full sun with some wet conditions in the winter seasons and dry in the summer seasons. In addition, perennial phlox are fine to grow in much of the United States South and South East regions as well. How To Plant Phlox Flowers

Plant your phlox in humus-enriched, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Space 24" apart. In spring, thin new shoots to 4-6 stems. Deadhead to keep the plant vigorous. Water deeply during periods of drought. Avoid wetting the foliage; Phlox flowers can be susceptible to powdery mildew. Divide your phlox plants every 2-3 years in early fall. Replant only small, strong outer divisions. Phlox flowers will grow 36- 60" tall and bloom in June-September. Hardy in zones 3-8.
